The dust tail is now very broad, and the gas tail shows different jets.
Lens : 135 mm at f/2.8. Exposure time 4 minutes (in parallel with a telescope).

The comet will set above Thoune, on May 1, 1997, at 23h16 UT+2.  Picture taken from the Jungfraujoch, in the Bern Alps, at 3580 m above sea level.
Lens : 29 mm at f/2.8. Exposure time 45 seconds (in parallel with a telescope).

Adieu Hale-Bopp ! The show of the great comet of 1997 ends beautifully!
The comet will soon set, preceded by a thin Moon crescent.
Weather will be cloudy during the next 10 days, then the comet will be too low to be observable from our northern latitudes. Picture taken from the Jungfraujoch, on May 8, 1997 around 22h40 UT+2.
